Engineering QA Engineer (Mumbai, India)

Affinity, is seeking technocrats who are eager, energetic and highly motivated for QA Engineer position with our Engineering Group, located in Mumbai. The QA Engineer works with Developers, Product Managers, and others to help ensure high quality and timely delivery of products of varying sizes and complexities. The QA Engineer plans and executes manual and automated testing throughout the development cycle and during periodic releases. Throughout the project, the QA Engineer communicates frequently with team members regarding quality status, and helps to resolve project problems and issues to ensure the highest degree of customer satisfaction.


  • Ability to manually test Web based applications (websites, internal portals, client interfaces, APIs, etc) with little or no requirements.
  • Ability to understand business requirements (if provided) and point out discrepancies in the same.
  • Ability to write test cases and test scenarios based on requirements (if provided).
  • Experience in using Defect Tracking tools like Mantis.
  • Experience with automation testing using open sources web automation tools like Selenium, Watir, Sahi, etc (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams with short deadlines.
  • Ability to build rapport with developers and good communication skills.
  • Experience in JavaScript and any other scripting language is a plus

Required Skills

  • 1-3 years QA experience in a commercial software environment
  • Experience in testing web applications
  • Familiarity with relational database concepts and RDBMS systems such as MySQL, Oracle, DB2 and MS SQL Server.
  • Basic networking knowledge
  • Experience with PHP, JavaScript, AJAX a plus
  • Working knowledge of both Unix and Windows

Education and other Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field
  • Initiative, self-starter, results-oriented, focused, and team player
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, communicate QA perspective and lead QA effort
  • Must be a good team player with excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Time management skills
  • Articulate oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
